How much does a marriage license cost in Lee County Florida?

First of all, the requirements for civil marriages in the United States vary from state to state. Not only that, but they change over time. Always check with your county registrar before arranging the rest of your wedding as the requirements change frequently and are not the same for all counties.

Although there are differences between the requirements in the various states, a marriage between two spouses performed in one state is recognized by all other states under the U.S. Constitution.

Obviously, this must be either single or unmarried. If either (or both) of you are divorced, bring copies of the divorce decree. In Pennsylvania, widowed applicants must bring a copy of the death certificate of the deceased spouse.

Many states have waiting periods before obtaining or using your marriage license. So, be careful when coordinating the dates for the civil wedding (or for the party or your honeymoon) as you may have to wait between one and six days between the time you apply for your license and when you receive it. For example, in Pennsylvania, there is a 72-hour waiting period before you receive your license and in New York you must wait 24 hours after receiving your license before getting married.

If you find yourself planning a wedding ceremony, the process can be interrupted by all the paperwork required to obtain a marriage license. Obtaining one a few weeks or a month before your ceremony will make the process easier and you will have one less thing to worry about in between the whole event.

First, you must download the marriage license from the Orange County Clerk of Courts website. Fill it out and bring it to the county clerk’s office. You will also need a valid Florida driver’s license; a passport, Florida state identification card or military identification card; a social security card; and proof that any marriages prior to the current date have ended.

Read the marriage license guide issued at the county clerk’s office. Sign the form stating that you have read and understand it. You can do this the same day you apply for a marriage license.
